Reinstalling a mobile game can bring back the app while leaving some purchases or progress missing. The safest response is not to buy everything again. First separate four records that may be controlled by different systems: the store’s app ownership, the game’s server save, non-consumable entitlements, and consumable currency already spent or delivered.

What can usually return

Google Play says purchased apps and digital content are connected to the Google Account, not only one device, and that previously purchased apps can be reinstalled on compatible Android devices using the same account. Apple similarly lets a user redownload available apps associated with the Apple Account.

Inside an app, Apple distinguishes restorable non-consumables or subscriptions from consumables such as game currency or hints. Consumables normally cannot be restored through Apple’s restore control. A game’s own server may still know a currency balance, but that is a publisher account question, not a promise made by the store.

Do not confuse purchases with save progress

Downloading a paid app again does not prove that a guest save, character roster or server selection will return. Progress may depend on a publisher login, Game Center, Google Play Games, a transfer code or another method documented by that game. Confirm the exact profile before deleting the old installation.

Write down only non-secret identifiers such as the player ID and server. Never place passwords, recovery codes or login tokens in notes or screenshots. If the game still opens on another device, compare its player identity with the reinstalled copy before making changes.

Safe checks on iPhone and iPad

  1. Confirm the same Apple Account used for the original transaction.
  2. Open the official game from the App Store, not a copied installer or web prompt.
  3. Sign into the correct in-game profile and server.
  4. Look for Restore Purchases in the game’s store, settings or options.
  5. Check Apple purchase history for the order and date.

If nothing returns, restart the device and retry once on a stable connection. Apple says to contact the app developer when a charged purchase still cannot be restored, and its billing page also provides purchase-history and problem-reporting routes.

Safe checks on Android

  1. Confirm the same Google Account that bought the app or item.
  2. Check whether multiple Google accounts are signed into the phone.
  3. Install the official game from Google Play and update Play services.
  4. Sign into the correct game profile and server.
  5. Open Google Play order history and match the receipt to the item.

Google states that Play content cannot be transferred between Google accounts. Changing the selected account, region or game server can therefore make an owned item appear absent. Do not create a second purchase merely to test which account is active.

Cross-platform moves need extra care

A purchase made through Apple may not be treated the same way after moving to Android, or vice versa. Some publishers allow account progress across platforms but keep paid currency or subscriptions tied to the original billing system. Read the game’s official transfer and purchase rules before switching operating systems.

If a subscription is involved, confirm its status in the original store. Deleting the app does not automatically cancel renewal. Our subscription checklist for the Philippines explains how to find the billing channel.

Prepare a useful support request

Provide the player ID, server, device, OS, app version, item name, purchase time and redacted store order reference. Describe whether the issue began after reinstalling, changing phones or changing platforms. Attach a screenshot that hides full payment details and unrelated notifications.

Use support reached from the official game or store listing. A real recovery case does not require paying a helper, sharing an OTP, installing remote-control software or handing over the full Apple or Google password.
