A message claiming to be mobile game support may arrive after a public complaint, missing purchase or login problem. The sender may know the game’s name and ask for a screenshot, one-time code or small verification payment. That context does not make the account official. Scammers watch public posts and copy publisher names, logos and reply styles.

Common fake-support approaches

  • A direct message promises to restore a banned or stolen account.
  • A reply offers free currency or compensation for a server problem.
  • A page asks for an OTP, recovery link, QR login or device approval.
  • A helper requests remote-control or screen-sharing software.
  • A refund agent asks for a card number, e-wallet PIN or advance fee.

Urgency is part of the pressure: the sender may say the case closes in minutes or the account will be deleted. Pause. Genuine support records can be checked again through the game’s official client, publisher site or store listing.

Verify support independently

  1. Do not use the link or phone number in the unexpected message.
  2. Open the official game yourself, or its verified Google Play or App Store listing.
  3. Find the support route from that trusted starting point.
  4. Compare the case number and request inside the official channel.
  5. Keep the conversation there instead of moving to a private account.

A blue check, familiar profile photo or copied email footer can be imitated. Verify the full domain, not only the words before it. A shortened link or misspelled domain should not receive a login, code or payment.

Information support should not need

Do not share an Apple, Google, Facebook, publisher or email password. Keep one-time codes, backup codes, passkeys, session cookies and QR login approvals private. Pokémon GO’s official security guidance says support will not ask for login credentials and warns that login tokens and cookies should be treated like passwords.

For purchase investigations, a redacted order reference is usually safer than a full receipt image. Hide the billing address, phone number, payment method digits and unrelated notifications. Never send a card CVV, e-wallet PIN or OTP. A 2026 Philippine National Police cybersecurity advisory tells people to rely on trusted official sources, avoid unfamiliar links and suspicious promotions, and secure their accounts with strong passwords.

If you already replied or clicked

  1. Stop the conversation and disconnect any remote-control session.
  2. From a clean device, change the affected email or sign-in password.
  3. Review recent security activity and remove unfamiliar devices or login methods.
  4. Revoke suspicious connected apps and regenerate exposed backup codes.
  5. Contact the game through its official support route.
  6. If money moved, call the bank or e-wallet using its official app or card number immediately.

Google’s account-recovery guidance recommends reviewing recent security events and devices, then securing anything unfamiliar. If the same password was reused, change it anywhere else that uses it. Do not wait for the scammer to confirm what they accessed.

Preserve evidence safely

Save the profile URL, full sender address, message times, payment reference and screenshots before blocking. Do not repost an unredacted receipt or identity document in a public warning. Keep the evidence for the publisher, financial provider or authorities.

For a Philippine financial complaint, contact the affected bank or e-money issuer first through the phone number printed on the card or its official app. The PNP advisory says to report cyber incidents immediately to the nearest Anti-Cybercrime Group or through the eGovPH app. Recheck the current government channel before sending evidence.

Prevent the next attempt

Post player IDs only when the official form asks, and avoid publishing email addresses or receipts in community groups. Turn on the strongest supported account protection and secure the recovery email first. Review our giveaway identity-safety guide before sending an ID or selfie.
