A dual-SIM phone can keep a long-term Philippine number for account recovery while a second line supplies mobile data. That separation is useful only when both lines are labelled, active and protected. A wrong default can consume the wrong load, and a lost recovery SIM can lock a player out even while the game still works.

Do not move an account’s recovery number casually. Before replacing, porting or disabling a SIM, add another supported recovery method and verify it through the game’s official account page.

Give each line one clear job

Label the plans in phone settings, for example Account number and Game data. On iPhone, Apple lets users choose a default number and a separate cellular-data line; the phone uses one cellular-data network at a time. Android menus vary, but supported devices also let users select a default data SIM.

Keep the number used for game, Google, Apple or wallet recovery active and under your control. Do not publish it in guild profiles or social posts. The Philippine National Privacy Commission warns that identity thieves can collect personal details through social media, phishing and impersonation before attempting SIM-swap fraud.

Choose the data SIM before a match

Open cellular or SIM settings and confirm which line supplies data. Check the carrier name in the status bar, remaining data and expiry inside the carrier’s official app or channel. A speed test does not guarantee stable game latency; use the line with consistent signal, not only the largest headline speed.

Turn off automatic data switching if predictable billing matters. Apple notes that Allow Cellular Data Switching can let the phone use data from another line depending on call and coverage conditions. Device-brand behaviour differs on Android, so test with a small download before a large update.

Keep OTP delivery working

Send a normal test message or use a non-sensitive official account check before relying on the recovery line. If a code does not arrive, do not request it repeatedly or share screenshots with a stranger. Confirm signal, the selected number, message filtering and whether the account still shows the correct masked number.

Never read an OTP, recovery code or QR login to a carrier agent, teammate, buyer or supposed support representative. CICC’s Kontra Scam guidance tells users not to give OTPs or combination numbers to people they do not know.

Protect both the phone and SIM

Use a strong device PIN. Android recommends a SIM PIN to prevent someone from using the SIM in another device; Apple also supports a SIM PIN. Change a public default PIN through official settings and keep the carrier’s PUK recovery process private. Do not guess repeatedly because the SIM can become locked.

If the recovery line suddenly loses service while the other line works, contact that carrier through its official channel from another device. Also review the linked game, email, Google or Apple account for unfamiliar sign-ins. NPC recommends reacting quickly to unauthorized SIM replacement notices.

Plan changes, roaming and phone replacement

Before changing phones, make sure both SIMs or eSIMs can be transferred through official carrier and device steps. Apple notes that moving an eSIM can stop the old phone number from working on the previous device. Do not erase the old phone until sign-in, OTP delivery and game progress have been confirmed on the new one.

For large game downloads, choose trusted Wi-Fi or the intended data line and disable roaming unless it is deliberately needed. Our Philippines prepaid data guide covers update planning without assuming one carrier’s promos or expiry rules apply to another.

Recovery checklist

  1. Record the non-secret game player ID and server.
  2. Add a second supported recovery method.
  3. Confirm the recovery SIM receives ordinary messages.
  4. Label both lines and set the intended data default.
  5. Test game sign-in and progress before erasing an old phone.
