A game may switch language after an update because its in-game preference reset, the app started following the phone’s language order, or a new build changed the available language pack. Start with settings that do not touch account data. Do not clear storage or reinstall until you know your progress is linked.
Check whether the game or only the store page changed
Google Play and the App Store can display localized listing text independently of the language inside a game. Open the game and look at its login screen, menus and Settings page. If only the store description changed, there may be nothing to fix in the installed app.
Also distinguish text language from server or region. A language setting normally changes menus and subtitles; it should not require moving your account to another country or choosing a different game server.
Use the game’s own language menu first
Look under Settings for Language, Text, General, Accessibility or Download Resources. Choose the language you used before, confirm the change, and fully close and reopen the game. Some titles download an additional language pack, so use a stable Wi-Fi connection and keep enough free storage.
If the desired language is no longer listed, check the developer’s official update notes or support page. Do not download a translated APK, modified client, configuration profile or replacement data file from a forum. Unofficial packages can expose accounts and may violate the game’s rules.
Restore an app language on Android
On supported Android versions, Google documents a per-app language menu at Settings → System → Languages → App Languages. Select the game and choose a supported language. Some phone brands use slightly different labels.
Google notes that only apps whose developers support this feature appear in the list. If the game is missing, use its own language menu or adjust the phone’s language order only if you are comfortable changing other apps. After changing the setting, restart the game. Updating the app can refresh its supported-language list.
Check language order on iPhone or iPad
First check the game’s own Settings page. If it follows the device language, open Settings → General → Language & Region and review the preferred language order. Apple’s current instructions use this area to add or select a device language.
Changing the primary iPhone language affects the wider interface, so take a screenshot of the current order before editing it. If the game offers a per-app language choice in its Settings entry, use that narrower option. Availability depends on the app and installed languages.
Do not change store country just to change text
Google says Play country affects which apps, games and other content are available, and changing it requires eligibility and a payment method for the new country. It can also affect access to content. Language and country are separate settings, so Philippine players should not move their Play country merely to restore English or another interface language.
The same principle applies to Apple accounts: do not change region, payment details or subscription settings for a text-language problem unless the game’s official support specifically confirms a regional account issue.
Protect progress before clearing data or reinstalling
Confirm the game is linked to its official account system, Google Play Games, Game Center, Facebook login if still supported, or another documented cloud-save method. Record the player ID and server name without exposing passwords or recovery codes.

If the language changed after a staged update
Compare the game version shown in its settings with the current official store listing. Updates can reach devices at different times, and a server-side configuration can also change without a new store build. Do not sideload a newer package to force parity. Philippines language note
Google Play supports Filipino as a store-listing language, but that does not mean every game includes Filipino interface text or voice. Check the specific game’s official listing and support page. English availability can also differ from voice-over availability, so verify text, subtitles and audio separately.
