Moving an eSIM is not the same as copying apps and game data. The phone number, mobile plan, game save and authenticator are separate systems. A rushed switch can leave a player with working games but no access to the number or email needed for login codes.
Before touching the old phone
- Confirm the new phone supports eSIM for its exact model, manufacturing region and carrier.
- Check that the phone is not locked to another carrier.
- Connect both phones to trusted Wi-Fi and install current system updates.
- Verify that each important game is bound to the intended Apple, Google, publisher or platform account.
- Confirm access to the recovery email and authenticator, not just SMS.
- Keep the old phone powered, locked and available until calls, texts, data and game logins work on the new device.
Globe advises checking for an Add eSIM or SIM Manager option and offers a device compatibility test in GlobeOne. Smart’s official help says new prepaid eSIMs are sold through the Smart Online Store and existing subscribers can request conversion through Smart’s official channels.
Globe transfer and conversion notes
Globe’s current FAQ says Globe Postpaid and Globe Prepaid customers can change a physical SIM to eSIM in GlobeOne. Its instructions require OTP verification, an email address and stable Wi-Fi. Globe also says an already registered physical-SIM number does not need to be registered again merely because it is converted to eSIM.
For an existing Globe eSIM, the general FAQ says the QR code can be reused and transferred after removing the eSIM from the old phone, while the prepaid-specific FAQ describes limits on rescanning. Follow the instructions attached to the exact account and product rather than assuming every QR code has identical rules.
Smart eSIM notes
Smart’s official guide distinguishes buying a new Smart Prepaid or TNT digital eSIM from converting an existing line. New prepaid customers receive the activation route through the official online store, while existing subscribers should use Smart’s stated conversion or store process.
Do not buy a “ready registered” eSIM from social media. Philippine SIM registration applies to physical SIMs and eSIMs. Use the carrier’s official registration and support channels and enter personal information only on the verified domain or app.
Protect game accounts during the number move
Before the number changes device, review which games and platform accounts use SMS recovery. Add a recoverable email and platform authenticator where the service supports them. Save backup codes offline in a secure place. Do not disable two-factor authentication just to make the move feel easier.
Some games do not support cross-platform save transfer or may treat Android-to-iPhone moves differently for paid currency. Check each publisher’s current transfer guide before erasing the old phone. Our game progress transfer checklist covers those steps.
Test in a safe order
- Confirm the new phone shows the correct carrier and number.
- Place a call and receive a normal text from a trusted person.
- Test mobile data without changing unofficial APN values.
- Open the carrier app and verify the account, load or plan.
- Open one low-risk game and confirm its bound account and save.
- Test a login code only when you actually need one; never trigger repeated OTP requests.

If the transfer fails or the phone is lost
Do not post the QR code or number publicly. Keep the old eSIM installed unless the carrier’s official flow specifically tells you to remove it. If neither phone has service, contact the carrier through its official app, hotline or store.
For a lost phone, ask the carrier to bar the line promptly, lock or erase the device through Apple or Google, and change passwords for the primary email and game accounts. Watch for SIM-swap warnings and reject unexpected OTP requests.
